I work with law firms every day, and one of the most common concerns I hear is that attorneys don’t feel they have time to maintain an active presence on social media. And if managing your social media accounts took an hour each day, I would say those attorneys are completely right. They should be spending that hour helping clients instead of browsing Facebook.
The good news is that law firms today can drive engagement, and keep their firm top of mind with their target clients, with as little as 5 minutes every day. You’ll find a more detailed recommendation for driving engagement each day on the Engagement 101 page of this website, but these suggestions should get you started.
1. Add social media to your morning routines. Do you already get a cup of coffee and check your email first thing? Great. Add logging into the FindLaw Social Media platform to your routine. This is a good time to like posts from people you respect or respond to comments from your followers.
2. Share articles you find interesting. As you read news that’s related to your law firm’s practice, go ahead and share the link to those articles on your social media profiles. Add a brief note about why you found it interesting, and you’ve got a solid post that will demonstrate your firm’s dedication to staying on top of recent developments.
3. Wrap up your week with social media. Many of us find that Friday afternoons are a good time to wrap up the week and get everything organized before the weekend. This is a great time to post about something interesting that happened at your firm during the week. It’ll be fresh in your mind, which makes it a quick way to create an authentic post that lets people get to know your firm.
Remember, driving engagement for your law firm is critical. But it doesn’t have to be time-consuming. FindLaw is dedicated to making sure that you have the tools and services you need to easily engage with your community. If you have any questions about how to use those tools, or whether your firm needs additional services, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Account Manager.
